It'll stop your downloads. Unfortunately I did it and didn't think about how I would probably have to start over again to finish downloading my photos like I was trying to do in the first place. HAving watched it for a bit, after clicking the button twice, thinking it wasnt doing anything due to the lack of information shown about the status of the download. I think it downloads the file only once then duplicates it to the extra duplicate folders. Double-click the Downloads folder or the location you chose during setup. To see photos and videos that were added before you set up the feature, click the Notification area in the taskbar, click Download Photos in the iCloud Photos notification, then choose the photos and videos you want to download.
If a photo or video is changed on another device or on iCloud. I know I asked for it -- but somehow I thought iCloud would be smart enough to not download the same thing multiple times. When I clicked Download Photos again, I did it because I didn't think the first download had actually begun.
And it had, but you'd think iCloud would recognize what existed the first time I clicked download and when I clicked it again, it would only download what was "new.
